Post: Reduce your building waste now with Prefabricated Timber Panels

The tram at Frank House are passionate about reducing the amount of waste created by the construction industry.  Duane Cameron wanted to provide builders and architects with an easy option to help reduce carbon footprints. The solution is Prefabricated Timber Panels.  This method of construction can significantly reduce timber waste for several reasons:

  1. Precise manufacturing: Prefabricated timber panels are produced in a controlled factory setting with advanced machinery and technology. At Frank House we use German Weinmann machinery.  This precision manufacturing allows for accurate cutting, shaping, and fitting of timber elements, resulting in minimal wastage of materials.
  2. Efficient material usage: Our machinery optimizes the amount of the timber we use. Since the components are manufactured off-site, the construction process can be planned meticulously to minimize waste. Computer-aided design (CAD) enables precise measurements and calculations, ensuring that the necessary amount of timber is used without excess.
  3. Reduced on-site construction time: Prefabricated timber panels are assembled relatively quickly compared to traditional construction methods. This reduces the exposure of timber to on-site conditions, such as weather and potential damage, which can lead to waste. By minimizing the construction timeline, the risk of material deterioration or wastage is significantly reduced.
  4. Quality control: The factory-controlled environment in prefabricated construction ensures higher quality control standards compared to on-site construction. Timber waste often arises from errors, rework, or low-quality materials. By manufacturing components in a controlled setting, the chances of mistakes or defects are minimized, resulting in less waste.

While prefabricated timber panels can significantly reduce timber waste, it’s important to note that waste reduction also depends on factors such as design, project management, and responsible handling of materials throughout the construction process.
